Meet Brett Mize
Brett Mize is a prosecutor, husband, father, and lifelong public servant.
For more than a decade, Brett has served Oklahoma as a prosecutor, currently as the First Assistant District Attorney for Osage and Pawnee Counties for over five years. He has prosecuted some of the most serious crimes facing our communities — including child physical and sexual abuse, homicide, rape, gang violence, and narcotics trafficking. A former Tulsa and Washington County prosecutor, Brett has earned a statewide reputation for integrity, toughness, and fairness in the courtroom.
Throughout his career, Brett has successfully led more than 50 jury trials and has taken on some of the office’s most complex and sensitive cases. He re-established the Osage County and Pawnee County Multidisciplinary Teams to better protect children and served as lead prosecutor for both Drug Court and Mental Health Court. In 2023, Brett was honored with the Mitch Sperry Award, recognizing Oklahoma’s top prosecutor.
In addition to his state service, Brett also serves Osage and Pawnee Counties as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
Beyond the courtroom, Brett is committed to education and public service. Since 2021, he has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa College of Law, teaching future legal professionals. He has also instructed at numerous law enforcement academies and serves as an adjunct professor at Rogers State University, where he teaches U.S. Government to high school and college students.
A law professor, church member, youth sports coach, and devoted husband and father of three, Brett is rooted in the values of faith, family, and service. As the son and brother of Oklahoma Highway Patrolmen, he understands that justice begins with character and is carried out through action.
Now, Brett is running for District Attorney to continue standing with victims, holding criminals accountable, and ensuring that Osage and Pawnee Counties remain safe, strong, and secure.
